The Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Abdulai Ayariga, has announced that two of the ten youth resource centres will be fully completed by the end of 2026, with special attention on the long-neglected Azumah Nelson Sports Complex.
Speaking to Citi News following an inspection on Tuesday, February 10, Mahama Ayariga said sections of the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex, including the administration block, are nearing completion. He added that contractors are scheduled to begin the next phase of intensive work on the pitch next month.
Beyond the sports complex, Ayariga confirmed that another youth resource centre is also expected to be completed before the end of the year.
He further stated that details of the total cost of construction at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex will be disclosed once the project is fully completed.
“We hope to complete the entire sports complex before year-end, thanks to capital support from the Ministry of Finance and the backing of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, who is deeply committed to completing the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex and youth resource centres across the country. Currently, eight centres are at various stages of completion, with a promise to complete a minimum of two this year,” he said.
