Silva Lady celebrates her birthday with Chosen Children’s Home Orphanage at Darkuman

The Head of Programs and Drive Time show host (“Aben Wo Ha”), Mavis Nhyira Mensah, popularly known as Silva Lady (SL), celebrated her birthday with the Chosen Children’s Home Orphanage at Darkuman in the Ablekuma North Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The orphanage, which currently houses 65 children, has a vision of creating and ensuring peace and security for national socio-economic development in Ghana and beyond.

The event was organized by Silva Lady’s Foundation and powered by DLFM. It took place on Saturday, 7th September 2024, at the Chosen Children’s Home Orphanage Centre in Darkuman.

According to Silva Lady, the day was filled with so many emotions that it was hard to put into words.

She was accompanied by the Manageress of DLFM 106.9, Miss Mabel Antwi; the Head of Events, Mr. Prince Obeng (DJ Hitz Man); Mid-Morning show host, Efya Sugar; Libya Burgar; “Amansansu” show host, Michael Kortey; Nana Adwenpa-Hene II; Apakan GH; Nhyiraba Kwadwo Sammy Bee (News Anchor); Sokoo Hemaa of Rainbow Radio Int’l, and the entire staff of DLFM 106.9.

Silva Lady mentioned that they spent the entire day playing games, telling stories, and laughing together. In the afternoon, they had a small party, and she distributed gifts among the children.

She presented items such as assorted drinks, biscuits, bags of sachet water from Lumba Nsupa (sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Lumba), and an undisclosed amount of money to the center.

Silva Lady described the joy on the children’s faces as heartwarming, as they received their gifts.

She admitted that this celebration was different from her usual birthday traditions, but it was one of the most fulfilling ways she had ever celebrated. She emphasized how spending time with the kids made her realize how much we take orphans and the needy in our society for granted. Despite their difficult circumstances, the children were so full of life.

“Overall, it was an experience that will stay with me for a long time,” she shared. She realized the importance of giving back to the community, especially to orphans, and how small gestures of kindness can have a significant impact on others’ lives.

“It was a birthday that I will never forget, and I would definitely recommend it to others who are looking for meaningful ways to celebrate their big day,” she added.

Silva Lady urged corporate organizations, stakeholders, and the general public to urgently contribute or donate to those in need, especially orphanages.

In receiving the items, Mrs. Abena Washington, the Director of the Chosen Children’s Home Orphanage Centre, commended Silva Lady for choosing to celebrate her birthday with the kids. She emphasized that the center takes care of the children through voluntary donations, and appealed to individuals and corporate bodies for further assistance.

The children, in appreciation of Silva Lady’s visit and donation, thanked her and assured her that they would always remember her in their prayers.
