A leading member of the Movement for Change, Mr. Hopeson Adorye, was granted bail after his Tuesday arrest on accusations of detonating explosives in the Volta Region during the 2016 General Elections.

He has been released on bail of GHC20,000, and charged with spreading false information.

On May 10, 2024, Mr. Adorye confessed that he and his associates set off explosives in the Volta Region to intimidate voters in National Democratic Congress strongholds, aiding the New Patriotic Party’s election victory.

In an interview with Ghana News Agency, Mr. Buaben Asamoa, a lawyer for the Movement for Change, stated that the team is making every effort to fulfill the bail requirements as quickly as they can.

News of Mr. Adorye’s bail was met with jubilant celebrations from the Movement’s supporters at the Accra Central Divisional Headquarters.
