Offinso finally gets successor to late Chief

Nana Amoako Poku from the Offinso Ahyirem Royal Family was on Monday named the Offinsohene-elect.

Amoako Poku, 68, is a member of the Offinso Ahyirem Royal Family in Ashanti Region.

He was presented to Otumfuo Osei Tutu by the Kwakwaboa Abusuapanin, Opanin Yaw Nkrumah Adusah in accordance with Asante tradition.

According to an official statement from Manhyia Palace, the Abusuapanin had taken on the responsibility, in collaboration with the royal family, to propose a suitable royal candidate for the stool following three unsuccessful attempts by Queen Mother Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko.

The Queen Mother nominated former Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, Dr. K.K. Sarpong as the new chief of Offinso. But it was found out that he was not related to the Ahyirem Royal Family as he claimed after analysis of his family tree.
