Bawumia seeks majority MPs blessing before declaring his intentions for 2024 election race

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to declare his candidacy for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Primaries in November 2024. He had a meeting with the Majority Caucus on Tuesday, May 2, where he informed them of his decision to lead the NPP in the next year’s election. Although he has hinted at succeeding Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the leader of the NPP, he has not made it official yet. He has consulted key groups before the official announcement, and the Majority Caucus has expressed gratitude for his “show of respect” in consulting with members. The NPP Primaries will be contested by several Majority MPs, including Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Francis Addai-Nimoh, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Boakye Agyarko, and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
